Amethyst Cluster #15

Made from Brazilian amethyst, this is THE cover girl for crystals, and for good reason. Purple sparkling quartz crystals have been respected for as long as humans have existed. (no the keycap is not sharp)

Crafted by hand with Genuine Materials

Each artisan keycap is handmade by yours truly with care and attention to detail. I strive to be as honest as possible. All the materials I use, to the best of my knowledge, are 100% genuine.

One of a Kind

Each order includes a single artisan keycap unless otherwise specified. None of my keycaps are ever the exact same due to the inherent nature of the materials I use and the process by which I cut and shape them.

Keyboard Compatiblity

My keycaps are compatible with Cherry MX "style" switches and clones. (they have + shaped stems) For more information, visit this page.

Keycap Size/width

My keycaps use the "U" keycap measuring system. A 1.0u keycap is the "standard" keycap size (think number and letter keys, roughly 18mm wide). Keycap sizes are scaled up by multiplying this width. For example, a backspace key typically uses a single 2.0u-sized keycap that is as wide as two 1.0u keycaps set next to each other. The "U" system only accounts for a keycap's width, not its overall shape. More info on this page.

Keycap Profile

My keycaps match no standard keycap set "profile"; they are made to best display the stone. A keycap's profile refers to its specific shape, height, and slope. Different profiles change how your keyboard looks, sounds, and feels to type on. For more info visit this page.

Shipping & Returns

I use USPS to ship my work; you will usually receive your order within 14 days of ordering if you live in the USA.

I do offer international shipping. You can find my shipping policy here.

I accept returns as well; you can find my shipping and return policy here.

Care & Installation

Be extremely gentle when installing and removing my keycaps.

  • To install my keycaps, remove the old keycap with a wire keycap puller, line up the cross-shaped stem of the new keycap with the mechanical switch in an orientation you like, and then gently press it down; do not force it.
  • To remove my keycaps, carefully use a WIRE KEYCAP PULLER, place the wires under opposing corners, and gently pull STRAIGHT up, while holding the keyboard down with your other hand.
  • To clean my keycaps, use a soft bristle tooth brush with hand soap and gently scrub the stone. Make sure to rinse thoroughly and allow the inside of the keycap to dry completely before installing.
  • Use the included yellow polishing cloth to remove tarnish off of metals such as brass, copper, and silver.

Why Do I Make Artisan Keycaps?

Hi! My name is Carter. I made my first crystal artisan keycap when I was 16 during the Covid-19 lockdown.

For as long as I can remember, I have loved rocks. As a kid I was always filling my pockets with what I'm sure my parents saw as regular stones.

But I saw something special in each one.

(My childhood rock collection is under my bed, and it's a mystery to me why I kept some of them...)

Present day, and my taste is MUCH better, but I still experience that same childlike excitement for each rock I work with.

I got into lapidary (the art of cutting/polishing stones) as well as custom keyboards at the beginning of 2020.

I was deeply unsatisfied with the public school system even before covid. (I gave a speech at my graduation about this experience.)

My school district was forced to switch to online school during lockdown. Isolating me and my friends.

But this shattering of the public school system kept it from telling me where and how to spend my time, and it actually felt freeing.

I would speedrun all my work for the week in one day, get straight A's, and then work on my skillset and business for the rest of the week.

I often get asked why I don't scale my little business and work with a factory in China, but I think there is enough slop in the world already.

I still genuinely make each piece, one at a time, by hand, because it is one of the few things that brings me joy.

And people are better than ever at sensing when there is no heart behind something.
